Hands DOWN one of the best breakfast spots I've EVER been to - anywhere! Ask for Kimmie! Food is amazing, the setting is like you're eating at your own table...and the atmosphere is welcoming, to boot!
Stopped in at 7am on a Saturday morning. We were seated immediately, with only a few patrons at that point. Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak and I ordered the famous biscuits and gravy (half order). The service was kind, upbeat, and timely. Hubby said the food was good, but the gravy seemed a little bland. I, however thought my food was fantastic. The portions are very large, and we both felt the prices were good. The restaurant itself was a very neat atmosphere. Lots of neat things hidden in corners. We both feel all In all that it was a worthwhile experience.
OMG!! All I can say is portion, portion, portion!!! First visit here and ordered the 1/2 order biscuits and gravy, plus added hashbrowns and 2 eggs. The entire meal was outstanding and the size of portion was crazy big for the price! My server was right on point and the place is exactly what you would expect from a small mom and pop style diner! I LOVED it!!
Great food and very friendly staff. Felt like I was eating breakfast at my Mom's place- very welcoming and homey. Large portions, so unless you're super hungry I recommend going with a half order (if available) or ordering the "el cheapo plate. :)
Still pretty good after ownership change however the selection isn’t as good and the neither is the food. There are only two vegetarian options other than pancakes and french toast. The service is very good and so the portions what they do have is still pretty good. I do recommend visiting and trying it for yourself you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent food. My wife likes poach egg a little hard, her were perfect. Shrimp omelette was great - lots of shrimp.
Huge portion sizes and unique menu items. My husband and I really enjoyed our breakfast here. The building is small so if there is a wait you might ind yourself outside and the dining setting were pretty tight. We didn’t mind tho.. it’s part of the homey atmosphere and cuisine!
Everything is huge. The 1/2 servings are big enough for two. Come with an appetite because the food is delicious.
The food is all homemade and delicious. The cranberry bread with the special fruity butter is my favorite. Large portions for a good price.
service was great food was hot and quickly served. coffee was full and plenty of water.
The food is good. But the very shallow tables and general grouping of all of the tables makes the space very tight. Three of us, instead of four, were at one of the booths. We had to place our items carefully to fit the table. I don't recall a more unpleasant/cramped dining experience, and I'm very small. We have given this restaurant several visits and we have decided not to return.
Get there early or get in line for some great food and wonderful people. Home size portions and homemade taste. Skipping the continental breakfast at the hotel is a great idea. Start your day at Laurie's.
This place has great food! We got eggs benedict and biscuits and gravy. The eggs benedict was great, but the biscuits and gravy were incredible! Highly recommend them! The place is fun and the staff is friendly.
Super fast service. Large portions and yummy. There is a line outside but it moves quickly. We waited maybe 10 minutes.
Our family comes here for lunch every time we are in town. Even when crowded the service is pretty good, and the food does not disappoint. The decor is fun to look at while waiting for your order.
If I can put zero stars I would, I don't understand how this place has such a high rating when the service is lousy. They give you these puny cups and don't even bother to refill it or ask if you need anything else, they just give you your check once all your orders are put on your table. My husband ordered the corned beef hash which was 11.95 and it was canned corned beef. I ordered French toast and we asked for extra toast and willing to pay for the upcharge and thy told us no they don't do that. So we had to order a different kind of bread. The scrambled tasted horrible. It looked like old scrambled eggs sitting in a pan for awhile. There's also a sign on the front that says if your a pain in the ass or hard to deal with they will give you an extra 10 dollar charge.
Great place to eat worth the wait
The French toast tasted like it was deep fried in butter and was impervious to syrup. They didn't take American Express. Bacon was delicious. While the line looked scary we waited only a few minutes for the table. Coffee was weak ass.
Considerate staff, tasty food. I hate waiting in line more than almost anything but would do it again. Our daughter was here on her birthday and they got the whole restaurant to sing to her. Very sweet.
Food is delicious... Well worth the wait.. Staff is friendly and very helpful..Will definitely return...
Great food! Wonderful service and people!
This place is super cute, with an awesome wood burning stove right in the middle. I had a hard time even deciding among the delicious sounding breakfast offerings, but opted to split a breakfast sandwich and order of pancakes with my husband. The sandwich was good, but the ham too salty. Enjoyed it, but was just blown away by the pancakes! They were absolutely the best pancakes I have ever had! I also couldn't finish my 2 of them! They were large, fluffy, and amazing! We will definitely be going back while in the Long Beach area!
Every time my family comes out to Long Beach for a short vacation stopping by Laurie's for one of our breakfast experiences is the family expectation. Always a great breakfast. Generous servings.
Service was fine. Big portions for sure. I had a seafood omelette which had generous portions of shrimp, oysters and smoked salmon in it but the eggs were dry. My girlfriend did not like her vegetable hash. We will try this place again.
Good food, big portions. Would come back
Get ready to fill your tummies. Delicious food, wonderful portion sizes and a very homey atmosphere. This is one place you will come back to over and over again. Reasonably-priced. It's got it all.
Quaint and friendly. Large selection of breakfast food. The service was quick. The food is good, not great. The other bonus is they are open early.
Great food and nice portions so make sure you go in hungry. The people working there were very nice and if I'm ever anywhere near here again I will definitely be coming back.We went here because the owner replied to terrible review with an awesome response. I wish more owners called people out for being unreasonable and rude in their businesses. Your honesty and amazing food gained a couple customers for life. Keep it up!
Homestyle cooking and atmosphere. A little pricey, but the food was delicious.
The bacon is amazing and the thickest I've ever had 10/10! My eggs were cooked perfectly. If you have children order them a chocolate milk, it's awesome. I'm an ice tea snob, their Ice tea is amazing.
Watch the tax, but Excellent food and fast service
Love their food, the location and the people that work here.
Great food, amazing service and massive serving sizes. Honestly you could split most of the options on the menu and be ok. A great stop for anyone in the area and locals alike.
We had breakfast; the meat lovers omelet had much more meat than expected. If you try the biscuits & gravy, I suggest the half-order unless you're very hungry; it's huge! The food was good, the atmosphere was 'homey' and our server was terrific!!
Cozy atmosphere! Home-cooked meals with friendly staff! They give you amazing extras with your meal like banana bread with strawberry butter. Very delicious!
This was a great place for breakfast, the even have grits on the menu.
This biscuit says it all, the food is heaven on Earth
By far one of the best breakfasts places I've been in a very long time. Was worried we would have a wait but were seated in 5 minutes. Prices are a little expensive, but you certainly get what you pay for. We slpit the Little Kitchen Sink and it was freaking amazing! I highly recommend that! I'll attach a few pics of their menu as that was the hard thing to find. But definitely a HUGE A+!!!
This place is the best. There are no gluten free options, no vegan options and it's just breakfast. Portions are enormous, prices are reasonable and the quality is great. It's awesome. Just breakfast and perfect.
VERY expensive for breakfast. Meals average $15 a plate. Most are $17 or a bit more. Food is EXCELLENT though. No complaints there. Service is VERY slow. We waited a little over an hour to get our food from the time we sat down. Server was friendly and kept my water glass filled with ice water. Great place to meet and greet. Booths are too small for the larger body, but they do have tables and chairs. It's homemade goodness! Worth trying at least once during a visit.
Worth the wait!!! Giant plates. Great food and prices. Service is wonderful
If you can catch him when they're not slammed it's a great place! Don't let the tourists no, they'll ruin it!
Old fashioned diner with a huge selection of omlettes, pancakes bigger than your face, and biscuits bigger than two fists. The food is well prepared and comforting, the servers are friendly, and the atmosphere is charming.
Ordered willapa oyster and cranberry banana bread for breakfast. The cranberry spread has real cranberries in it! Tasty!
A bit high priced for the quality of food, but it is in fact a very popular restaurant for breakfast. Good location. My wife liked her pancakes, but everything else was average at best. Parking is limited during an event like the rod run or kite festival as this place is so crowded. If you want to try this eatery I suggest an early arrival, or be prepared to wait.
A busy and old-fashioned place with all the best breakfasts. Great bacon, pancakes. Hash browns a little too oily for me but still good.
I liked it!! I wanted a big breakfast and not the boxed or paper wrapped kind so I came here. Laurie has been running this place for 22 years. She's shy but they make a great breakfast, good coffee too. My bacon & egg version was $12. Biggest biscuit I've ever seen.
Excellent service, portion size, fresh, great coffee, clean facility. Good prices. No complaints here!
You need to eat here! This place is great
The folks in Long Beach definitely have a treasure in this small little café You have to wait outside in case it is way too busy. Definitely worth the wait. The portions are amazing and the food is very good. My granddaughter had a hot chocolate arrive at the table with 4 to 5 inches of whipped cream on top of the hot chocolate, which elicited a major reaction of smiles and laughter from the table next to us. Needless to say, that was a chocolate overload!
